The First Bloomsbury Farm Fields of Flight Kite Festival was held at Bloomsbury Farm near Atkins on May 10th and 11th. Bloomsbury Farm has been in business as an attraction farm for 30 years and hosts several festivals during the spring, summer, and fall. These festivals include the Bunny Bash, Iowa Tulip Festival, Fields of Flight Kite Festival, Iowa Flower Festival, Iowa Fall Festival, and Scream Acres. They also host corporate events, school trips, and have an operational farm.

Sammy Petersen runs the ducks during the duck race at the Fields of Flight Kite Festival. Petersen is the Daughter of Bloomsbury Farms owners and has been an active participant in the events hosted there for the last 30 years. Bloomsbury Farms owns 9 big crested ducks, and 9 runner ducks. Runner ducks are bred to train herding dogs, however they are not used for that purpose at Bloomsbury Farm.
Great American Kites Owner Sean Beaver gets some of his kites back into the air after a lack of wind had caused the kites to hit the ground. Great American Kites was contracted by Bloomsbury Farms to provide the giant kites for the Fields of Flight Kite Festival. Sean Beaver and his wife Stephanie Beaver have owned and operated Great American Kites for over 10 years. The company, which provides kites to events all over the U.S., is based out of Polo Missouri and has the worlds largest collection of giant kites.
One year old Huxley Plank from Hills Iowa gets pushed on the swing by his dad Jude Plank. The Plank family has visited Bloomsbury Farm on several occasions.
