The Kenwood Park Neighborhood Association makes pancakes for the Community
The Kenwood Park Neighborhood Association hosted it’s annual Pancake Breakfast at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church at 7:00am on Saturday May 2nd. The Kenwood Park Neighborhood Association (KPNA) was created in 1986 and has been hosting the Pancake Breakfast since at least the mid 90s. The KPNA was incorporated in 1999 with it’s original mission being to save the Northeast side branch of the Cedar Rapids Public Library. While they were ultimately unsuccessful in saving the library branch the KPNA has since committed itself to bringing the northeast Cedar Rapids community together by completing various projects and programs designed to benefit the community.

KPNA President Erica Yoder serves pancakes to Rox and Pam Brandstatter. Kenwood Park Iowa was founded in the late 1880’s.

The KPNA was awarded 501©(3) tax exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable organization in February 2000.
KPNA Treasurer Michelle Thorton checks to see how much coffee is left while starting to clean up near the end of the pancake breakfast. Thorton has lived in the Kenwood Park neighborhood for 22 years, been a member of the KPNA for four years, and it’s treasurer for two years.
