The Linn County Fair took place this last week from Wednesday June 25th - Sunday June 29th. The event featured livestock contests, carnival rides, Family Friendly entertainment (from Lumberjack Enterprises, and Balster Magic Productions), food vendors, and concerts headlined by Dylan Scott and Chris Cagle. The current Linn County fair began it’s life as the Wapsie Valley Fair, and and has been held in Central City every year since 1889. Prior to 1889 the Linn County fair had been held in Cedar Rapids and Marion from 1855 - 1870, with the Iowa State Fair taking place in Linn County from 1871 - 1878. The Wapsie Valley Fair became the Linn County Fair in 1937.

Country singer Matt Stell performs as the opening act during the concert at the Linn County Fair on Friday night. Stell’s singles “Prayed For You” and “Everywhere but on” both reached the top spot on the U.S. Country Airplay chart in 2019.
Chris Cagle was the main act during the concert at the Linn County Fair’s Grand Stand on Friday the 27th. Cagle has had five of his singles make both the top ten U.S. Country Songs and the U.S. Country Airplay list, with “I Breath In, I Breath Out” hitting number one.
Linn County Country Music Fans gathered at the Grandstand to listen to the music of Chris Cagle during the concert on Friday the 27th.
The events at the Linn County Fair were capped off with a Fireworks show on both Friday and Saturday evening.
