Trunk Show at The Museum Store
A Chance For Local Artists to sell their Art At The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art
The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art hosted it’s third annual Trunk Show on Saturday February 7th from 10AM-4PM. The event was organized by the Museum’s Retail and Visitor Services Manager Kimberly Machovec-Smith. The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art was officially opened in 1989 by the Cedar Rapids Art Association, and John Carter Brown. Brown was the Director of the National Gallery of Art at that time. The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is a American Association of Museums accredited museum.
Suzy Myer tells a potential customer about her homemade jewelry while participating in the Trunk Show as a vendor at Cedar Rapids Museum of art on Saturday February 7th. Myer has been making jewelry off and on for over fifty years, and currently does about a dozen shows per year.
Sybil Scheetz puts on a new pair of earrings after purchasing them from Zoe Filzer during the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art’s Trunk Show. Filzer has been making ceramics for about four years, and jewelry for one year.
Plum Tree Designs Owner Patty Smith rearranges some of the jewelry for sale at her table during the Museum of Art’s Trunk Show. The Trunk Show is put on by the Museum of Art to give local artists the opportunity to showcase their work.
Mileah Mesch prepares to sell a couple of earrings to a customer while participating in the Trunk Show for the first time. Mesch has been in business for one year, and also works full time as a secretary for Robinson Construction.
Jan Clarke stops to look at some of the painted clothing available for sale by Randy L. Estes (also known as Wizard). Estes has been in business for a little over two years, and has also created the Cedar Rapids Fashion Month with 237 Collective Creative Directors Abbey Long Williams and Paxton Williams as well as Deb Crerie of Kinheart Studio.
Spoke Dupree reads volume 14 of Sakamoto Days while waiting for potential customers to stop by his table. Dupree started his business with making jewelry before switching to making clothing in the last year. Dupree does shows in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Des Moines.
Cedar Rapids Ceramics Center resident Zoe Filzer waits for potential customers to stop by her table. Filzer moved to Cedar Rapids about six month ago for the Ceramics Residency at the Cedar Rapids Ceramics Center.
